Discover Olbia

Olbia is located down a well protected bay. Founded between the sixth and fourth centuries BC, its name means rich, happy. Its coastal area extends for a hundred km of beaches alternating with cliffs of incomparable beauty

Due to its location Olbia is a geographical hub for tourism in Sardinia; its modern airport and the new functional maritime station, make it easily accessible from all European cities. The Olbia area is particularly rich in spots of natural, archaeological and gastronomic interest. The turquoise, emerald and blue of the sea, lap the white sandy beaches of the coast, creating a unique setting.

The great variety of flora and fauna and the intense scent of the Mediterranean maquis, make this area a earthly paradise. The old pastoral and rural traditions survive in the hinterland areas, where one can find small country churches and characteristic ethnographic museums, including, among the most significant, the nuragic shrine of Cabu Abbas.

The old town offers a range of significant historical monuments including the beautiful churches of St. Paul and S. Simplicio, the latter built from the ninth century.
